Grading Opportunities

Site Redesign (30%)
Collaborate with your team members to redesign the current user interface (look) of the Artwalk–Corpus Christi website. Your solution should be complete and professionally presented. This will not be a functional site, but a study of design, layout, structure, and organization in a web environment.

Smartphone App (15%)
Students will create a new concept for a Smartphone App. Upon writing a design proposal students will work to design a minimum of 20 screens that will guide a potential user through the function of the app.

Exercises (10%)
Each week students will be provided with a sheet of HTML code that they are to hand type into an HTML editor, not dreamweaver, and save as a HTML file. At the beginning of each class students will hand in their file. These exercises will help students become familiar in how to read and write HTML in its raw form therefore helping the student to translate what each component means.

Character Page (15%)
Students will design a simple website, using HTML and CSS, to promote a fictional character. This project offers the student an opportunity to apply HTML and CSS to create their own design layout. Although simple in explanation, this site will offer unique challenges.

Discussion (15%)
On Monday September 30th (the start of week 5) students will be required to discuss, in-depth, the topics covered in the book Designing for Emotion. The discussion will be guided by the professor, but maintained by the students.

Quizzes (15%)
Students will be quizzed on required readings assignments.
